Class Descriptions

ABSolution – an “express” workout for the core targeting the abdominals and back, followed by light stretching.  Members are encouraged to drop in for this 15-minute or 30-minute guided workout to improve trunk strength.
Bike and Ball – 30-minutes of cycling and 30-minutes of strength training using the ball. A great combo in 60-minutes!
Body Tone – a blend of Ballet Tone, stretching, gentle strength training and core work.
Bootcamp Conditioning – A high-energy and intense class of cardio bursts, agility drills and strength training designed to keep the heart rate up and challenge the whole body.
Boxing Clinic– learn boxing techniques with Golden Glove winner Russell Davis.  Coach Russell keeps everyone moving while working one-on-one with each participant.
Cardio Dance – This class combines your favorite cardio hi/lo moves along with hip hop and African dance, designed to help you reach your maximum cardio potential.
Cardio Dance Fusion - Get ready to shake, shimmy and sweat!  This Zumba-inspired cardio class combines music and moves from Latin, Caribbean, Cuban, African and Belly dance.
Chisel – Sculpt and mold the major muscle groups in this strength-training class using a variety of equipment (such as benches, dumbbells, stability balls, tubing and body bars).  Includes a warm up to prepare the body for strength work.
Circuit Training – A strength training class designed to keep the heart rate up by moving fluidly from one strength training exercise to the next.
Core Conditioning – A combination of ab exercises and strength training to give the core muscles (muscles of the torso) a complete workout.
Fit for Life – Designed to meet the needs of exercisers 55 years and over (although anyone is welcome), these classes minimize impact, promote muscle strength and bone density, and improve flexibility and balance.
45/15  and 15/45– A complete workout – Cardio/Strength  (45 cardio/15 strength or vice versa).
Hatha Yoga – The focus is on the physical postures, breath and mind.  A blend of sustaining and repeating poses (Iyengar) with poses that flow in sequence from one to another, following the breath (vinyasa).
Cardio Kickboxing – A high-intensity kickboxing workout to raise the heart rate and work the legs and upper body.
Meditation – Guided meditation to quiet the mind, reduce stress and increase body awareness using concentration and mindfulness.
Open Flow Yoga - Experience the benefits of yoga as students flow from one pose into the next, using mindful breathing and proper alignment techniques.
Pilates – Strengthen and stretch the abdomen and torso by solely using the strength of the body.  Techniques involve proper breathing and control over various muscles.
Power Yoga – a flow yoga class with a little more intensity. A faster moving class building cardiovascular endurance as well as strength.
Presidential Arms – Inspired by the fit and tone President and First Lady, this class will focus on strengthening and defining the shoulders and arms.
Stretch for Life – designed to complement the Fit for Life program. Focuses on increasing flexibility through stretching after a 20-minute cardio warm up.
Tabata – A popular regimen using 20 seconds of ultra-intense exercise (at an intensity of about 170% of VO2 max) followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated continuously for 4 minutes (8 cycles).  Take your training to the next level!
Yoga – A heart-opening type of yoga in the style of Anusara–a unique alignment system that  is an essential fitness tool for the beginner and the athlete alike.  The class will be a strong and safe flow yoga class.
Zumba – Cardio workout using world music and draw from various dance styles such as meringue, salsa, bellydancing and more.
Studio Cycling Rules of the Road Policy
  • If reservations are required, call the night before, or one hour before the class starts, depending on start time.
  • Your bike is forfeited once the class begins!  You will not be permitted to enter the class 5 minutes after the class begins!
  • Bring a water bottle and towel, and if this is your first ride arrive 15 minutes early to set up.

Results by Rachel: Prepare to work to your full potential!  Push yourself harder than you thought possible.  Learn about heart rate training and how to get the most out of your workout.  These one-and-half hour classes are led by Rachel Posell, top-vote getter for Best Personal Trainer by Bethesda Magazine readers.  Choose once a week for $144 or twice a week for $276.  Drop-in fee is $26.
Mondays 9:45-11:15 -  45-minutes cycle, 45-minutes sports conditioning
Wednesdays 9:45-11:15 -  90-minute cycle
Kid’s Yoga: Children’s yoga sessions where we can act as wild as a lion or as calm as a butterfly investigating various yoga poses.  We use games, stories and songs to teach core values like cooperation and respect through yoga while learning about our bodies in activities that build confidence and self-esteem. Classes are taught by Monica Zoll.
$75 for 5 weeks
$20 drop-in fee.
Mondays, 4:00-4:45 - ages 4-8
Sports Conditioning for BoysUsing body weight exercises, agility drills and core conditioning, this program will improve cardio endurance, strength, and flexibiity as well as reduce chances of injury during games and practices for whatever sport your son participates in this fall. Class is taught by RCSC personal trainer Devin Knox.
$72 for 6 classes
$15 for drop-in
